I have a Nikon D3300 and am looking to use this to make short videos - Is this the best quality as i see the Canon seems to be more popular for video?

Hi Kevin. It's convenience and adaptability rather than quality. Canon's big advantages are that you can adjust aperture manually in Live View video mode, and you can adapt a lot of other makers' manual focus lenses (e.g. OM Zuiko) to fit. Also, Canon give you an upgrade path to real video cameras such as the C100 cinema camera, and the pro Canon SLRs are widely used in the industry. If none of these are important to you, I'd stick with the D3300.
